The Dorado Wellness Community Center (DWCC) will play a vital role as a hub of community service that offers an overlapping and interconnected campus of health and wellness services designed around the "Whole Person".

As the campus evolves, it will offer a diversity of health care, behavioral, health crisis services, education, research and a continuum of care for the aging. The DWCC will be an institution with both a regional and local presence.

Community spaces and healthcare programs that promote health as opposed to just treating illness will be the focus. The diversity of the lush landscape of Puerto Rico and the Sacred Mogote' that the campus is organized around provides the perfect backdrop for connections to nature and the physical, mental and spiritual healing it brings.

Considering the unique offering of health and wellness services in such a natural setting, it's easy to imagine the campus as living biological community of interacting organisms within a specific physical environment, in other words, a Health and Wellness Ecosystem.

Innovation is focused on using the natural beauty, history and culture of the Dorado region of Puerto Rico to create a new model of delivering healthcare through human and nature-centric sustainable and resilient design. In addition, the team is currently exploring multiple methods of providing crucial resources on site such as renewable energy microgrids and cogeneration.
