As part of the rebranding of the Buena Vista Palace Hotel into a premier Hilton resort destination, the Recreation Island underwent a complete transformation to elevate the guest experience and create a vibrant, resort-style retreat. This reimagined amenity island blends luxury, relaxation, and entertainment, offering guests an immersive escape just moments from Walt Disney World.
Location: Lake Buena Vista, FL
The master plan introduced a range of new amenities designed for both leisure and social gatherings. At the heart of the island, a 600-foot lazy river winds through lush tropical landscaping, providing a serene, meandering waterway for guests to relax and float under the Florida sun. A newly designed resort-style pool offers an additional aquatic retreat, surrounded by luxurious cabanas, shaded lounge areas, and modern poolside amenities.
To enhance the culinary and social experience, the transformation included Shades Pool Bar & Grill, a stylish open-air dining destination where guests can enjoy refreshing cocktails and casual fare in a relaxed, upscale setting. The addition of an event lawn and pavilion provides a flexible space for private gatherings, outdoor entertainment, and special events, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the island’s lush surroundings.
Extensive landscaping and high-end site accommodations seamlessly integrate the new elements, creating a tranquil yet engaging environment.
