Our team has designed several schools for Imagine Charter Schools including the existing Imagine Desert West School, which has been able to operate beyond the designed capacity due to high demand for their services. We were approached to design a middle school so as elementary students moved up, they could continue to benefit from the quality of the school. The leadership was determined to incorporate a 21C learning including breakout spaces to facilitate project-based learning and a student commons that would foster student interaction and serve for both community and school presentations. They also sought to encourage a sense of community by facilitating parent interaction with designated space on the campus for this purpose. Despite a very tight budget and timeline, the finished building exceeds the expectations of the school and was filled to capacity from day one.
