John Carroll University New Fieldhouse

John Carroll University (JCU) is a private, coeducational, Jesuit Catholic university providing programs of study in the liberal arts, sciences, and business. The University was established in 1886 in Cleveland, OH, later moving to the current campus location in University Heights in 1935.

JCU hired Grace Design Studios and Bostwick Design Partnership to program, plan and design a new fieldhouse that can also serve as a shared space for various campus constituents. In addition to the fieldhouse, the project also takes into consideration the renovation of the recreation, athletic and student center areas as well as parking.

Much of the space program for the new fieldhouse and other renovations was not formally defined, and as such, various campus stakeholders needed to be engaged to understand space needs and adjacencies. The facility is designed to serve both athletics and recreation users.
