Luminis Health, Anne Arundel Medical Center - Staff Respite

Grace designed a dedicated staff respite space for Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center by repurposing the existing Clatanoff Pavilion Garden Café and an adjacent area of the North Hospital Pavilion's first-floor entry lobby. Overlooking the serene water garden, this wellness-focused environment provides healthcare staff with a restorative retreat where they can rest on their own, regroup, and take respite with colleagues before launching back into their demanding workdays.

Staff can repose on comfortable sofas positioned to enjoy natural daylighting, read a book or work on puzzles, and reconnect with family, friends, and colleagues at communal dining tables or in Privacy Pods designed for quiet conversation. The space features flexible seating arrangements for small groups, acknowledging the diverse ways healthcare professionals need to recharge—whether through solitude, social connection, or simply a moment of stillness.

A micro-mart anchors the space, supporting vendor-provided food and beverage stations that allow staff to refuel without leaving the building. Together, these elements create a multifaceted environment that honors the critical need for respite in high-stress healthcare settings.
