With the existing hybrid operating rooms at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center constrained by a small footprint and outdated technology, our team worked with hospital leadership to create two new state-of-the-art hybrid operating rooms to support the cardiovascular service line as an integral component to the department's strategic growth and vision.

Key to the success was the ability to plan around existing space with understanding that all construction should have minimal to no impact on surgery suite operations as this was a key priority to the client.

After extensive site survey and workflow analysis, the design team was able to select a project site that both minimized impact to daily operations as well as risk of infection during construction.
