Nihi Dine’é Bá Wellness Center
Aspiring to promote the journey to Hozho, the design of this wellness center was inspired by paths of healing, living, wellness and being. It sits at the intersection of these paths and is governed by the ideals of beauty, balance, order and harmony. The 42,500 SF facility offers services in three settings: clinical, community and employees of Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board, Inc. and aims to prevent and combat chronic health conditions through exercise and physical activity.
Locating the central common gathering space so that the land can be formed to create entries at both the upper and lower levels bring this intersection to life in three dimensions, allowing the user to experience this space from either point of entry. The wellness center includes a fitness center, clinic, and administration wing. Gathering from culture and landscape, the wellness center promotes Hozho from the center outward to connect Navajo people to their rich, diverse culture.
The Employee Wellness program provides preventative services for FDIHB, Inc. employees, "to promote a workplace culture that improves the Well-being of our employees." The programs that are offered are various types of screenings, fitness classes, spiritual gatherings and various other programs that cover 8-dimensions of Wellness.
The Community Outreach program provides primary prevention programs and activities related to physical activity and fitness in schools, chapter houses, and local entities.
