St. John Fisher College Campus Master Plan
We worked together with St. John Fisher College (SJFC) through an integrated planning approach to develop a Campus Master Plan that encompasses the College’s existing strategic, academic, and financial plans. These plans align with three central themes found throughout SFJC’s mission and vision: their Basilian Heritage, their liberal arts tradition, and their students.
St. John Fisher College had experienced significant growth across the board—in student enrollment, expanded academic program offerings, and athletics. In response to this growth, the College identified several key priorities that would guide the development of a new Campus Master Plan. These included reevaluating a planned library renovation, increasing housing capacity, creating additional academic space, and expanding indoor athletic facilities. The overarching goal was to align future campus improvements with current space utilization needs and coordinate those efforts with the institution’s new 2018–2023 Strategic Plan.
The scope of the Campus Master Plan focused on several key components: determining existing space use needs, repurposing underutilized areas, identifying capital improvement projects, aligning development priorities with the Strategic Plan, gaining implementation support, and establishing a strong foundation for future fundraising efforts. To develop a comprehensive and actionable plan, our team reviewed extensive background data and facilitated a series of on-campus workshops and collaborative meetings with College leadership. These sessions, held between multiple on-site visits, were instrumental in building consensus and maintaining project momentum.
The resulting Campus Master Plan reflects countless hours of input from the College’s dedicated faculty, staff, and students. Designed to anticipate and support continued growth, the plan emphasizes efficient use of existing resources and infrastructure. It outlines sixteen phased projects, grouped into three implementation timelines: near-term (1–4 years), mid-term (5–9 years), and long-term (future). This strategic, phased approach ensures that the College can adapt to evolving needs while maintaining alignment with its broader institutional goals.
