Livingston Parish Detention Center
Designing the Livingston Parish Detention Center challenged the team to deliver a safe, secure housing facility that supports video visitation, educational activities and medical services within a very modest budget. The resulting design includes up-to-date audio/visual security equipment, ten-foot perimeter fencing, a centralized control room to maximize security and inmate monitoring, and a video visitation area off of the front lobby. The building’s exterior features dark and light brick, a covered entryway and ample glazing.
As the Livingston Parish Detention Center is designed to serve shorter-term inmates, the facility focuses primarily on housing. It can safely accommodate more than 600 pre-trial and state inmates (male and female). The efficiently designed complex utilizes both direct and indirect supervision models.
