Tulane Reily Center Natatorium

The Tulane Reily Center Natatorium renovation was prompted by a report that revealed the deteriorating state of the existing 30+ year old Natatorium. To address safety concerns, the project involved the replacement of massive steel structures. Fortunately, the pool structure was built on an elevated slab, allowing access to the underbelly of the concrete pool shell. By using top of the line European technology, the team was able to install a Myrtha Renovation pool system consisting of stainless steel and PVC liner, which essentially created a new pool shell within the existing one.

The innovative approach enabled the team to address critical issues in the pool design and bring it up to code with current NCAA swimming and diving standards. Collaboration with both Tulane Athletics and Tulane Campus Recreation was key in creating a shared environment that caters to the needs of both entities. The mechanical and electrical systems were also completely replaced with new systems specifically designed for indoor pool environments and NCAA competitive swimming standards that did not exist when the pool was originally built.
